Before we continue with the Seeking Wisdom book review, I just would like to take a quick detour for those of you who are not too familiar with Warren Buffett.
Warren Buffett is one of the world’s most respected person. It’s not only because he is among the richest in the world and most successful investor, but because he is very grounded in integrity, honesty, transparency, respect, and the true-to-himself life that he lives.
To understand and appreciate Mr. Buffett, I recommend reading his biography The Snowball: Warren Buffett and the Business of Life.
Unlike the books that are about Buffett out there, The Snowball recounts the life and times of “The Oracle Of Omaha” thoroughly. I’m sure there’s a lot more about Buffett that can fit in this biography, but being over 800 pages, a good portion of his intriguing life events are shared in this book. Buffet allowed author Alice Shroeder exclusive access into his life to explore and delve into Warren’s most significant life events of business, investing, mindset, philosophy, the snowball of money that he created and even more intimate subjects of his childhood, family, successes, failures, struggles, triumphs, and wisdom.
Alice has written this book very well with flowing grace. It seems as if Warren knew she was the perfect person to write the lifetime biography of him, in which after completing the book, I agree that she did.
If you are looking to learn about investing and what are Warren’s investing strategies, this isn’t the best book to get that type of information. But, if you do want to learn about the foundation how Warren’s investing mindset, philosophies, and his moral and ethical character came about, I recommend you reading this biography. We all can learn something from Buffett, not just about investing, but in many aspects of life, family, business, character, and career as well.
The Snowball is a great read for anyone who wants to know about, understand, and be inspired by a great person and businessman of our generation. Even for investors wanting to up their investing strategies and returns on investments, I recommend reading (or listening to) this book. There are many investment take aways that are in this book if you are able to make the connections…
